Kanchi


The City Kanchipuram is located in the southern part of India. It is a city located at about 75 Kms from Chennai (Capital city of Tamilnadu). It is a city famous for its Silk production and temples sanctity. The research about this historic city reveals us that there are more than 1000 temples within this city. Day by day the number of tourists coming to this city is increasing and the numbers are flowing. The city is mainly famous for its silk production and weaving. There are many weavers society and weavers shop specially for the selling of silk sarees. The city has many big temples to its heritage like Kanchi Kamakshi temple, Kanchi Ekambaranathar Temple, Kanchi Varadaraja perumal temple, Kanchi Ulagalandha perumal temple and so on...


Kanchipuram is also having a most religious connection with Adisankara the Supreme founder of Advaitic Philosophy. His Philosophical works are huge and many mutts are carrying the message of this great saint to the people. One such mutt which works on kanchipuram is Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. It is a very old mutt which follows the ancient tradition and values. The Current sankaracharya of the Mutt is Sri Sri Jayendra saraswati swamigal and Sri Sri Vijayendra saraswati swamigal. Both the swamijis played a key role in the development of the city and its infrastructure.
